As Managing Shareholder of Honeywell Law Firm, Jeffrey Honeywell focuses his practice in the areas of Education Law, Labor and Employment Law, and Construction Law. Jeff has decades of experience on behalf of public employers, including school districts, in employee and student discipline proceedings, board of education policies and practices, and personnel trainings; in employment law, including sexual harassment and all other areas of employment discrimination; in all aspects of collective bargaining, including mediation, fact finding and interest arbitration; in administrative, state and federal court proceedings; and, in providing day-to-day legal research and advice on the full range of issues facing school districts and other public and private employers.
Jeff also has significant experience in civil litigation and arbitration involving construction contracts, including claims such as additional compensation sought by contractors against owners, as well as owner’s resolution of disputes with contractors, architects, and construction managers. He is experienced in the negotiation of commercial contracts, such as construction contracts involving public owners, architects, construction managers, and contractors. Jeff also routinely advises school districts and municipalities on the competitive bidding requirements involved in many construction and purchase contracts.
Prior to founding Honeywell Law Firm, Jeff worked in private practice in the Capital District for over twenty-five years in all of the above areas. He served as Captain in the United States Army in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps, where he litigated more than 150 trials and administrative proceedings. As a Saint Lawrence University Alum, Jeff previously served as president of the University’s Alumni Association.
